- Connect with DSS staff and fellow students while learning about the services, programs, and supports available throughout their academic journey.
- Develop a practical understanding of academic accommodations by exploring how commonly used accommodations are implemented in the college setting and how to effectively access DSS services.
- Discover campus resources and support networks that promote academic achievement, personal well-being, and student engagement.
- Strengthen self-advocacy skills and independence by learning how to communicate needs, navigate support systems, and take an active role in their educational experience.
- Build a sense of community and belonging through meaningful connections with other DSS students,Learning Skills Advisors, and campus partners before the academic year begins.
By the conclusion of Smart Start, students will be better equipped to navigate the college environment, access available support, and advocate for themselves as confident and engaged members of the Catholic University community.
